Pharmacy Technicians

OVERVIEW

Internship is provided to individuals interested in pursuing a career in a hospital environment and includes the areas of Acute Care, Distribution Faclities, Pharmacy Production and Residential Care.

Students will gain experience and develop practical job skills in the areas including but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile compund products preparation, ward stock distribution, medication procurement, automated distribution systems, clinical support services, multi-dose and unit-does product preparation and distribution. Students will be paired with and supervised by Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. 

PROCESS FOR ADMISSION

Schools offering the Pharmacy Technician Program must have provisional status with the Canadian Council of Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). All organization of placements are through HSPnet, students are not to organize placements on their own.

Program's capacity to accept request for student practicum is based on operational requirements and ability. All requests will be reviewed on an individual bases.
