Medicine

PHC welcomes all medical students and residents. We look forward to having you join us in providing excellent patient and family centred care.

PHC is an affiliated training centre for the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Medicine, providing clinical practice education for medical students, residents and clinical fellows.  We provide training a number of specialty areas in both the acute and residential setting.

PHC-specific Residency programs include:

St. Paul’s Hospital is home to two unique residency programs. The Family Practice CMG program trains primary care physicians with a broad range of interests including full-service Family Practice, Palliative Care, HIV/AIDS, Addictions, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT), Aboriginal, and Global Health. The IMG (International Medical Graduate) Program is the first in Canada to offer residency training in family medicine restricted for doctors who trained in countries other than Canada or the U.S.

The UBC Faculty of Medicine MD Undergraduate Program and Postgraduate Medical Education websites will provide further information about the types of training we can provide.
